Derek Montecalvo, PGA
Derek Montecalvo is the General Manager of The Ooltewah Club with 10+ years experience in the golf business. Upon graduating from Mississippi State University, where he earned degrees in Professional Golf Management and Business Administration, Derek worked his way back towards Chattanooga, which is where he has called home for the last 5 years. Married with 3 dogs, Derek enjoys golfing, being outdoors, and serving the members of The Ooltewah Club. Derek believes in the Club’s potential and hopes to have it ranked among the top in the State in the coming years.
Brandon Merritt, PGA
Head Golf Professional
Brandon Merritt is the Head Golf Professional at The Ooltewah Club, and has been a member of the staff since early 2005. Following graduation from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2009, Brandon has been the Head Golf Professional for the last 6 years and was elected to PGA Membership in May 2015. Brandon enjoys spending time with family and friends, movies, trivia, and history.
Kelsey Depies is the Membership Director at The Ooltewah Club. She began her time at the club as a bartender in 2019 before moving into her current role. A Nashville native, Kelsey moved to Chattanooga to attend University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and made it her home following her graduation with a degree in Human Resource Management. Prior to joining The Ooltewah Club, Kelsey worked as a Team Lead at SpeakEasy Marketing, a Leave Specialist at Unum, and a Buyer Specialist at Keller Williams Realty.
Chef Nick Thiers is the Executive Chef at The Ooltewah Club. Chef Nick is a Florida Native with more than a decade of experience in the culinary field. After graduating with top honors from Le Cordon Bleu, Atlanta, with his associate degree, he moved on to receive a bachelor’s degree in Culinary Management from Le Cordon Bleu, Arizona. He is an active member of the American Culinary Federation within the Chattanooga chapter, and is an avid culinary competitor. His most recent honor was receiving the title of The World Food Champions Chef. Chef Nick is passionate about all things food but has a special love of creating sculptures out of ice, fruits, and vegetables.
Chris Owen, GCSAA
Chris Owen is the Superintendent of The Ooltewah Club. Owen was born and raised in Nashville TN. One of the newer members of the team, Chris has been a member of the Ooltewah Club team since May of 2020. Chris graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in turf management and began his career at The Golf Club of Georgia in Atlanta. Chris is an avid golfer and in 2019 won the GCSAA golf classic in San Diego. He is married to his wife Abby and they have two children, Cameron and Parker.
